So we have been thinking about making the blog private. I have read too many articles about sicko's using pictures and information about you in weird inappropriate ways. Just today there was an article in the Wall Street Journal about it, reaffirming my feelings. We don't know when we'll do it, but let us know what you think and please email either of us and let us know your gmail email address so that we can add you to the list of viewers. Thanks.

okay, here is what lynne said about gong private....she has friends who had a blog destroyed by a crazy and looked into it herself....her friends called tech support and found this out:if someone crazy wants to get into your blog and targets you--going private will not stop them...blog is secure but these crazy are crazy--they can get into major corporations. Little blogs like ours are not big targets--it is huge blogs---read my tons of people a month---so they can get into as many homes as possible--ours are not that big to them. She decided not to go private because people can find her this way--and this is cool But,she has made hers secure in other ways: no private info given ie: home town, jobs etc.on blog no kids names used--she uses initials and such. hope this helps

I worry about the pictures too, anyone can copy them and use them anyway they want.
Holly, we have also wondered the same thing. How hard is it to make it private? I understand what jackie is saying but why make it easier for the less sofisticated crazies? Let me know.
You may have already done this, but another option to make your blog more secure within blogger is to go into "settings" and select no under "ad your blog to our listings" and "let search engines find your blog". It won't keep it from general internet surfing, but it eliminates access within blogger's data base. As far as general wierdos frequenting your blog you could also insert a map into your features that shows you where people are logging in from and how many times a day they're looking...there are several map options with different features.
